Intimate Riverside Wedding // Victoria + Steve – Kingston Photographer

This intimate riverside wedding will make your heart skip a beat! The charming mixture of nautical details and timeless romance that was perfectly suited to their riverside setting at the 1000 Islands Playhouse in Gananoque. Intimate weddings are quickly becoming my favourites and if I had to describe the perfect intimate affair, it would look a lot like this one did; simple, stunning, and a whole lotta love. In addition to this special day being based on the couples love for the water, there were so many beautiful details that made this wedding unique and true to these two. From a beautiful classic Chris Craft wooden Boat, to handmade décor and a beautiful venue that no one has ever been married at, this was one of my favourite weddings ever.

Wedding Photography Workshop

Last month I attended my very first Wedding Photography Workshop in Peterborough. I was soooo excited when I saw that the amazing Ash Nayler Photography was teaming up with Jono and Laynie Photography , a talented husband and wife photography duo to host their first workshop. I signed up immediately!

For those of you that have followed the Niche journey over the last few years, you know that this is my first Wedding Season shooting as a solo photographer. I must admit, by the end of last year’s wedding season I was in a major slump and feeling pretty discouraged. I felt tired, burnt out, and uninspired. I’m now certain most experience this throughout our photography careers. Sometimes you feel at the top of your game, making art that inspires you. Sometimes you feel that you truly suck at everything, and always have. Other times, you’re just in the middle, feeling blah.. if only you were a little more motivated. I’ve come to learn and accept that this is all a part of the ‘creative cycle’.

One of the goals I set for myself at the beginning of this year was to attend at least one photography related function every year. Attending this workshop was exactly what I needed. It was a breath of fresh air, it gave me a whole new outlook on my photography. This workshop was a perfect way to regain confidence in myself and learn some new tricks as I approach a busy new wedding season. As I continue to practice, learn and grow I now have a new great network of mentors and even new photog’ friends to help support me along the way.

If you haven’t attended a workshop and are considering it I strongly encourage you to do so. It’s so encouraging to learn with other like minded people and watch photographers whose work you admire. It made me feel so inspired to shoot. To try new things. To better my skill and technique… I am feeling inspired with a new energy and gratitude towards photography.
